Meet the Artist:
Ali Cox
Ali Cox is a contemporary painter known for her vibrant interpretations of the natural world through still life. Working primarily outdoors and on location, Ali captures the energy, light, and movement of a scene as it unfolds — translating landscapes into bold, expressive works of art. Collectors are drawn to the joyful energy that radiates from her work.
Based in Virginia, Ali's creative process is rooted in spontaneity, intuition, and a deep connection to place. From oils and acrylics to collage, she enjoys experimenting with texture and color in a loose, expressive style influenced by artists like Cézanne, Van Gogh, Jill Steenhuis, and Joan Mitchell.
A lifelong advocate for the arts, Ali incorporates creativity into every aspect of her life — including her work as an elementary school teacher. She has studied locally at the Academy Center of the Arts and the Lynchburg Art Club, and has participated in plein air workshops with Jill Steenhuis in Aix-en-Provence and Hugh O’Neill in Ireland.
Ali is also a dedicated supporter of her community, routinely donating artwork to benefit local organizations such as New Vistas School, the Lynchburg Humane Society, James River Day School, Randolph College, and Beacon of Hope.
